Youth Art Exhibit Celebrates Grand Canyon Inspiration

ArtRecently, several young artists spent seven days on a river trip being mentored by photographer Michael Buchheit, artist Sarah Hooker, and park ranger Juliet Oakes as part of a program called Grand Inspiration.

This unique experience included riding the rapids and taking remote day hikes. All the while, participants painted, wrote, and took photographs. Although many youth had an individual specialty, each participated in workshops for painting, photography, and creative writing.

The Grand Inspiration Exhibit At The Grand Canyon.

Between now and Aug. 8, all the work completed by the students will be on display at Grand Canyon National Park Headquarters. the exhibit initially opened on July 8, but continues to attract word-of-mouth traffic from park visitors.

What makes the collection unique is that it touches on one of several human experiences at the park. People feel inspired by the majestic setting, spectacular views, and immense nature of the area to produce works of art. The other is how well the park ties into science, especially with the addition of new and interesting exhibits and trails by the National Park Service.

The program, Grand Inspiration, is full for the remainder of the summer along the Grand Canyon River. However, there are several programs that are open for youth interested in visiting the San Juan River. Most programs are only open to 8 to 16 participants.

Helping People Achieve Their Dream Of Visiting The Grand Canyon.

There are so many opportunities to discover the richness and beauty of the Grand Canyon, but few people ever have that opportunity when they visit Las Vegas. TourGuy.com makes it possible because its experienced guides have more than 20 years of experience planning and plotting the optimum number of stops, sites, and experiences.

Grand Inspiration"I recently read an article where a Frenchman mentioned that Americans often say something is 'huge' or 'amazing' but the French don't," said James Hoke, president of TourGuy.com LLC. "But then the Frenchman went on to say that the first time he ever used that word was at the Grand Canyon. 'Amazing is here,' he said."

According to Hoke, the man went on to say that he cried when he saw the canyon. And that's without even considering the science of how the Grand Canyon was carved out by waterways like the Colorado River over millions of years. Today, it's one mile deep.

"Over the last few weeks, there were several fire scares. But now that the monsoon season has arrived, fire restrictions have been lifted on the South and North rims of Grand Canyon National Park," said Hoke. "While fire restrictions seldom affect day trippers from Las Vegas, they do affect anyone who wants to stay overnight."

TourGuy.com offers one of the most diverse menus of Grand Canyon excursions from Las Vegas, including the West, South, and North rims. Even more adventuresome, TourGuy.com can custom create variations for travelers that include river rafting, overnight ranch stays, and almost any other adventure someone can dream up.
