Since the very beginnings of this country, Americans have fought and died for their country. On other occasions, Americans have traveled abroad to defend another nation's freedom. And during one war, the American Civil War, it was often said that men and women fought and died to truly make this one nation with freedom for all. TourGuy.com is proud to join with many Americans on Veterans Day to promote the National Park Service, which has the honor of preserving battlefields, military parks, and historic sites that commemorate and honor the service of American veterans.
All of us at TourGuy.com agree that in addition to the various celebrations, parades, and ceremonies, this weekend is the perfect time to visit a national park that commemorates where they fought and served their country or visit a national park that represents the land they fought to defend. For this reason, the National Park Service has developed a special site to help you Honor America’s Veterans in America’s National Parks.
Visiting A National Park On Veterans Day Is Free.
During Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2010, the National Park Service will waive all entrance fees to almost 400 national parks. Many of the parks will be holding special ceremonies that honor veterans.
"From everyone in the National Park Service, I extend gratitude to all who have served in the U.S. armed forces and defended the people, freedoms, and resources of this country,” said Jon Jarvis, director of the National Park Service. “In honor of veterans, entry to the national parks, which preserve many of our nation’s finest natural and cultural resources, will be free."
As a service, TourGuy.com is providing a list of parks and forest areas in its service area that are waiving entrance fees on Veterans Day.
